Why Delta County

Why Michigan

Delta County is composed of 2 Cities and 14 Townships.

City of Escanaba

As of the 2010 census, Escanaba had a population of 12,616, making this City the third-largest city in the Upper Peninsula. Escanaba began as a port town in 1863, gaining importance in the U.S. as a shipping point for iron ore, lumber, and copper during the Civil War. Escanaba is home to one of the safest natural harbors in the upper Great Lakes, which makes the area a natural destination for boaters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Today, Escanaba and the surrounding area are home to a major wood product manufacturing operation, coated paper manufacturing operation, thermoformed packaging operation, ore shipping, railroad operation, and one of the finest handcrafted bedding manufacturers in the bedding industry, to name a few. For more information on the City of Escanaba visit: http://www.escanaba.org/

Escanaba Community Initiatives:

Next Michigan Development Corporation Designation for Delta and Marquette Counties
A new economic development district in the Upper Peninsula officially became law in Michigan when Gov. Rick Snyder signed the legislation enacted the first of the year.  The law amends Public Act 275 to include a sixth Next Michigan Development Corporation in Delta and Marquette counties. Five such districts exist downstate and are eligible for state funding and tax incentives.  These incentives are available not only to new businesses but also those expanding in Michigan that utilize multi-modal transportation in their supply or production chains.

Northshore Redevelopment Master Plan. The Escanaba waterfront was identified as a resource which could be converted into a dynamic mixed-use redevelopment area.  The properties along the north shore of Little Bay De Noc are viewed by the City of Escanaba to hold great potential to generate year-round activity with linkages to surrounding neighborhoods, downtown amenities, labor, regional access, and the recreational and scenic attributes of the waterfront location.  To view the plan visit:  http://escanaba.org/?draftnorthshoremasterplan

City of Gladstone

Gladstone is a pristine community of nearly 5,200 residents nestled on the northern shores of Little Bay De Noc. With this fortune, Gladstone has become one of the premier walleye fishing destinations throughout the Country.   If fishing is not your “snag”, then come join us for the many other activities that have dubbed Gladstone the title of “Year Round Playground”.  Gladstone offers a revitalized downtown business district, warm residential living coupled with small industry for viable employment. Businesses that have made Gladstone their home include the world's most famous Gun Sight manufactuer, a Valve Automation manufactuer, and one of the largest privately owned producers of hardwood veneer, lumber, and specialty plywood in North America.  The Gladstone School System is second to none when offering quality education for our young people.
